SPX keeps helicopters flying in the global aerospace industry
One of the most respected names in the helicopter and fixed-wing aerospace industry is
SPX Precision Components. When the aerospace industry purchases safety, precision, and quality parts and components, it looks to SPX Precision Components, a long-time supplier of critical safety items for military prime contractors and civilian aircraft programs.
SPX Precision Components is a leading provider of rotorheads, structural components, mechanical assemblies and many other complex parts. For example, SPX Precision Components produces critical components for the rotorhead and control systems of the Apache Longbow helicopter, playing a key role in keeping one of the U.S. Army’s valuable resources in the air.
In addition to its work on the Apache program, SPX Precision Components also produces flight-critical components for the Army’s Chinook and Black Hawk helicopter program.
SPX Precision Components’ employees had an opportunity to see the results of their work first-hand in 2008, when an Apache helicopter landed at the SPX Precision Components’ facility in Newington, Conn. The landing was part of a day-long celebration recognizing employees for their hard work and successes, as well as showcasing the importance of manufacturing in Connecticut.
SPX Precision Components also provides structural components for Airbus and Boeing commercial aircraft. The mounts for attaching the aircraft engines on the A380 aircraft, the world’s largest commercial aircraft, are produced in SPX Precision Components’ Long Island facilities.
Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement techniques are an integral part of the SPX Precision Components operations. This implementation of Lean and Continuous Improvement has increased manufacturing capacity, allowing SPX Precision Components to grow its portfolio of aerospace components.
SPX Precision Components' facilities in Connecticut and Long Island, New York comprise 250,000 square feet of manufacturing space. Operations in both locations are AS 9100 and ISO 9001:2000 registered.
