TCI Introduces Next Generation Spectrum Monitoring Solutions at 2016 Africa User Group Forum
TCI introduced its newest radio-frequency spectrum monitoring solution, the Model 709, at its 2016 Africa User Group Forum held February 23-25 in Gaborone, Botswana. “Our new monitoring system uses the latest technology to provide higher performance in a smaller package. The Model 709 improves our customers’ ability to manage and protect their radio spectrum while reducing their total lifecycle costs,” according to TCI president, JB Ballard.
TCI has a 50-year legacy designing, installing and maintaining radio spectrum monitoring solutions in over 100 countries. The Model 709 leverages this experience to provide the highest performance, reliability and ease of operation to meet today’s evolving spectrum monitoring challenges.
Radio-frequency spectrum monitoring plays a key role in developing countries. It enables national spectrum regulators to enforce licensing to avoid interference with wireless communications, including: cell phones, television, radio stations, emergency services, air traffic control, and maritime radios.
One of the 2016 Africa User Group Forum’s goals was to share TCI knowledge and technological insights with national regulators in Africa who are tasked with managing radio communications in their home countries. The Forum provided insights critical to maximizing the benefits of TCI solutions within each nation’s growing communications infrastructure. Spectrum regulators from 10 African Countries participated in the three day Forum that was co-hosted by BOCRA (Botswana Communications Regulatory Authority) and TCI.
Tshoganetso Kepaletswe, Deputy Chief Executive – Regulatory Affairs of BOCRA stated, “We are very excited that TCI selected Botswana to host the first Africa Spectrum Management System User Forum. The forum provided a good opportunity for the users of the TCI Spectrum Management System to network and share information. The new technologies will provide better performance and integrate seamlessly into our existing spectrum monitoring network.”
TCI brings almost 50 years of innovation in spectrum monitoring, radio direction finding and signals intelligence solutions for civilian, government and military agencies worldwide. TCI is also a recognized leader in the design and manufacture of antennas for communications and high-power radio broadcasting.
