With installations from Chihuahua, Mexico to Alberta, Canada, there’s no denying the strong presence of cooling systems from SPX Cooling Technologies throughout the Americas.
While the company’s dry cooling systems have largely been of interest for installations in areas where water is a scarce resource, the company is gaining more interest from companies in areas of the Americas that are interested in employing cooling technology that can help minimize water usage and other environmental impacts.
Dry Cooling in the U.S
SPX is now working on supplying a dry cooling system — under one of the largest U.S. contracts it has ever received — for the power division of The Shaw Group Inc. (See the press release announcing the project.)
Headquartered in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, The Shaw Group Inc. is a leading global provider of technology, engineering, procurement, construction, maintenance, fabrication, manufacturing, consulting, remediation and facilities management services for government and private sector clients in the energy, chemical, environmental, infrastructure and emergency response markets.
The new clean-coal power plant will be located in Virginia. It will use advanced circulating fluidized bed technology, which is recognized by the U.S. Department of Energy as a clean-coal technology for reducing sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide.
