Dairy product manufacturers in Poland and Iceland are among the companies using an innovative process from APV®, an SPX company, to improve their dairy products and processing.
The ultra-filtration LeanCreme™ process extracts and treats protein from the whey, and then uses it to replace part of the fat in cheese products. The technology enables the customer to make better use of whey that would normally be used for lower profit products while retaining the full flavor and texture of its products.
Making More from Milk
European dairies are also employing APV’s self-contained “plug-and-produce” white water recovery process to increase profits and product output.
Using a proven reverse osmosis (RO) technology to separate and concentrate milk residues back to their original composition or higher, the APV Goldstream™ process enables manufacturers to recover and reuse milk residue from the white water that is produced in dairy processes.
A third of white water consists of milk residue. With a daily intake of one million liters of milk, white water milk content can be as much as 10 tons. By recovering this milk, manufacturers can increase the value of daily intake by 1%.
The other two thirds of the white water can be reused as clean-in-place (CIP) water or processed using the same retrieval technology for subsequent use as process water.
